Cooperation with Ministry of Foreign Affairs

  • The graphic announces cooperation between the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the center, there is bold black text that reads: "COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS." Below, there are two logos: on the left, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs logo, featuring a white eagle with a golden crown and the black inscription "Ministry of Foreign Affairs" with a red underline; on the right, the CBA logo, which consists of a white eagle on a red background, surrounded by a black circle with the institution's name. In the top right corner, there is a logo for the "Asset Declarations" project, featuring a magnifying glass icon and the words "UNIFICATION, DIGITIZATION, CONTROL." The background of the graphic is white with a geometric pattern and red accents in the corners.

The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau, as part of its work on the draft bill concerning asset declaration statements, conducted a series of consultations with representatives of public offices and institutions. Among others, on January 21st, a meeting was held with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where a number of issues related to asset declarations under the current legal framework were discussed. One of the main points of the discussion was the difficulties in interpreting the provisions set forth in the Act of August 21, 1997, on limiting business activities by public officials (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1090, as amended) regarding so-called “equivalent positions.” Additionally, issues related to the flaws in the current regulations were raised, with an emphasis on the need to change them by: introducing instructions for filling out the asset declaration, establishing a correction mechanism for declarations, providing a precise form template, considering modern ways of asset placement, and implementing effective sanctions.
In conclusion, representatives of both institutions announced the development of optimal legal solutions, which are necessary for the successful reform of Poland's asset declaration system.
